The Sela SE 220 is a handmade handpan made of nitrided steel, tuned to D Kurd at 440 Hz. You can play it intuitively right away, as all notes fall within one fixed scale. This means your combinations always sound good, and you can quickly create rhythms and melodies without prior experience. The D minor sound makes the instrument suitable for calm, dreamy pieces and more energetic playing.
Nitriding gives the steel a harder surface and a shorter sustain. This results in a more percussive sound where notes overlap less, which is particularly pleasant for faster playing. This characteristic helps you to play more clearly and gain control more quickly. Please note that this material requires a little more maintenance, so regular cleaning and keeping it dry is important. You receive a sturdy, padded bag with handles and backpack straps for safe transport.
