The Scott Cao STC17CE78 7/8-sized cello is designed for players who prefer a more compact model without sacrificing tone volume and playability. This cello is particularly well-suited for advanced students thanks to the combination of carefully selected woods, traditional craftsmanship, and a model personally designed by Scott Cao. The top is made of Norway spruce, while the back, sides, and neck are crafted from beautiful flamed maple. The oil-based patina finish with an antique finish and a warm amber hue provides a classic look and contributes to a full, resonant tone.

Due to the instrument's wider construction compared to other 7/8-inch models, the STC17CE78 delivers a surprisingly powerful sound. The wood thickness has been proportionally adjusted so the cello can vibrate freely, improving playing comfort and tone quality. Assembled in the Guangzhou workshop, the cello is equipped with an ebony fingerboard, pegs, and chinrest, as well as a tailpiece with fine tuners and steel strings.
