The Scott Cao STC17E 4/4 cello is an excellent choice for the advanced student ready to take a step up in quality. This fully handmade cello combines carefully selected European woods with the craftsmanship of experienced violin makers. The top is made of European spruce, while the back, sides, and neck are crafted from beautiful flamed European maple. The oil-based patina varnish with an antique finish gives the instrument a warm brown/amber color with a golden undertone and enhances the natural tone of the wood.

The STC17E is assembled in the main workshop in Guangzhou and is equipped with an ebony fingerboard, tuning pegs, and chinrest. The combination of a simple bridge, fine-tuner tailpiece, and steel strings makes for a reliable and pleasant-to-play cello ready for intensive use. Designed based on an original model by Scott Cao, this instrument offers a warm, expressive tone that develops with play.
