Description
The Hosco SOS-CG1 is a Sound Offset Spacer (SOS) specifically designed for nylon-string classical guitars. This Japanese precision product is based on the MTS system (Minehara Tuning System, patent no. 4383272) and corrects the natural intonation problem that occurs when a string experiences extra tension when pressed, resulting in a slightly high-pitched sound despite correct fret placement.
By placing the SOS between the nut and the strings, the pitch between the nut and the 12th fret is noticeably improved. This is especially useful for open or dropped tunings, where tension differences are greater. The SOS is made of Bakelite – durable and stable – and easy to install without permanent modification to the instrument.
