Description
The Hosco SOS-EG1 is an innovative Sound Offset Spacer (SOS) , developed in Japan using the patented MTS (Minehara Tuning System, patent no. 4383272) principle . Simply placed between the nut and the strings, this spacer corrects subtle intonation issues that arise when the string becomes overly tense when pressed, making the tone slightly sharp – a common problem with all fretted instruments.
The SOS corrects this effect from the nut up to approximately the 12th fret and works exceptionally well for electric guitars, including variations in string gauge and tuning. It's particularly effective with open and dropped tunings, where the pitch difference becomes greater. Thanks to the use of Bakelite, the system offers stability and easy installation, although it can affect the tonal character compared to a bone nut.
