The built-in 8-track sequencer supports both real-time and step input, with up to 8 patterns per track , pattern chaining and recording of automations of up to 8 parameters .

Creative features like an arpeggiator , 22 scales , swing control (20–80%) , and adjustable velocity dynamics make it simple to craft complex and expressive music. The SL MKIII is also a powerful hardware command center, thanks to CV, gate and modulation outputs , clock out , and extensive MIDI I/O . Inputs for sustain, expression, and footswitches allow for even more expressive control.
